Roger D. Tjaden, age 70, of Clearwater, retired general maintenance mechanic at Vulcan/Oxy and lifelong farmer, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary, Clearwater. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, at Clearwater United Methodist Church. Interment will take place at Clearwater Cemetery.
Roger Don Tjaden was born on Monday, Dec. 1, 1952, in Wichita. He was the second of three children born to Herman Tjaden, Jr., and Vada Ruth (King) Tjaden. He graduated from Clearwater High School, class of 1970. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1972. Roger was united in marriage to Martha Teresa “Marty” Medina on Oct. 13, 1973, in Camarillo, Calif.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Marty, on Dec. 26, 2018, and his father, Herman Tjaden, Jr., on May 5, 2010. He is survived by his daughters, Dauna (Todd) Herman of Burlingame, Kan., and Christy (Matt) Freeman; sons, Kevin (Rebecca) Tjaden, and Keith (Jamie) Tjaden, all of Clearwater; mother, Vada Ruth (King) Tjaden; brother, Neal (Karen) Tjaden of Clearwater; sister, Dena (Bill) Kliewer of Wichita; grandchildren, Jacob and Austin Titus, Kaden and Kirah Herman, Jayce and Audrey Freeman, and Noah, Talen, Eli and Tenley Tjaden; great-grandchildren, Kayvenn and Kali Titus, Avery Croucher, Adeline Titus, Alaina Titus, Alivia Rutliff, and Alexis Licklider; and numerous nieces and nephews.
