Catherine M. (Becker) Simon, age 96, of Clearwater, farm wife, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, and funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, both at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte.
Catherine was born on Monday, Aug. 16, 1926, in Garden Plain to Jacob and Lucy (Kerschen) Becker. She was united in marriage to Emmett Mathias Simon on Feb. 4, 1947, in Garden Plain at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett; parents, Jacob and Lucy (Kerschen) Becker; daughter, Marilyn Garretson, son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sherry Simon; sons, Dennis and Don Simon; brothers, Francis, Sylvester, Lawrence, and Jim Becker; sisters, Stella Meyer-Clasen, Mary Ann Becker, Agnes Armstrong, and Joan Rosenboom; grandson, Eric Simon; and great-granddaughters, Kylie Hare and Sydney Cash.
Survivors include her children, Judy (Gary) Martin, Jim (Peggy) Simon, Jane (Randy) Mills, Pat (Allen) Thome, all of Clearwater, and Michelle (Eddie) Sanchez of Treasure Island, Fla.; brother, Jerome Becker; sister, Dorothy Downing; 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
