Jerry L. Silvers, 74, of Schulte, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at his home.
Jerry Lee Silvers was born Oct. 24, 1948, at Milan, to Harold Elmer Silvers and Barbara Lee (Reynolds) Silvers. He spent most of his early life in the Milan/Argonia community. He attended Argonia public schools through his junior year and graduated from South High School, Wichita, in 1967.
Jerry was united in marriage to Lucretia Ann Lange on Feb. 1, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs. They made their first home in Anadarko, Okla., before returning to Schulte and Wichita to raise their family of four children. They moved to their current home in 1982.
Jerry worked for Boeing Aircraft and was a truck driver before becoming a crop adjuster for Rural Crop Insurance Service. He also was self-employed, selling used cars for many years.
Jerry was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gena Lynette Hanna; sisters-in-law, Mary York and Nancy Lange; and one great-grandson, Jeremiah Burch.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lucretia Silvers; two daughters, Stacy Silvers of Wichita, and Lucretia (Cory) Burch of Goddard; two sons, Matthew Silvers of Wichita, and Zachary (Megan) Silvers of Wichita; foreign exchange daughter, Claudia Ortega of Chihuahua, Mexico; four brothers, Michael (Michelle) York of Clearwater, Gene (Linda) Silvers of Winfield, Leighton York of Alma; and Greg (Lorretta) York of Clearwater; grandchildren, Luke, Khori, Eva, Jersey, Stella, Rowan and Carson; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte, with Father Nicholas Voelker as celebrant. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the church. Interment was in St. Peters Cemetery, Schulte.
