Inez P. (Bogart) Batson, 95, of Norwich, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023 in Wichita.
She was born April 6, 1927, at Southwest City, Mo., to David and Mable (Bogle) Bogart, the youngest child of a family of seven children. The family moved to Abilene, and later to Wichita.
She was united in marriage to Troy Ellis Batson, Sr., on April 22, 1946, at the Fundamental Baptist Church in Wichita. They made their first home in Chillicothe, Mo., where they attended Business College and started their family of four children. They moved to Springfield, Mo., before Troy began working on pipeline construction, which took them to Kentucky and Ohio.
They returned to Wichita in 1949. In 1969, the family moved to Belle Plaine for two years before moving to their farm southwest of Norwich in 1971. They moved into town in 1980. Troy died December 15, 1999.
Inez was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Hervie, Elmer, and Robert Bogart; three sisters, Mae Startzman, Ruby Parks and Grace Ades; one daughter, Linda Kay Guy; and one grandson, Kevin Batson.
Inez is survived by two sons, Troy E. Batson, Jr., of Wichita, and Rod Batson of Norwich; one daughter, Teresa Cash of Norwich; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, in Eden Cemetery, Milton, with Pastor Mike Justice of the Milton Baptist Church officiating.
