John A. Scott, 77, formerly of Conway Springs, of Goddard, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita.
He was born Dec. 14, 1944, at Wynn, Okla., the son of Pleasant Eustace Scott and Marie (Sowers) Scott. John grew up in Rolla, Kan., and attended Rolla High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on Aug. 3, 1962, where he served his country during the Vietnam era. He was honorably discharged on March 8, 1968. John moved to Wichita after returning home and began working in the aircraft industry.
He was united in marriage to Judy Melbeth Peek, and two daughters were born to this union. He later married Creta Lou Best, and a third daughter was born. On Aug. 1, 1981, John married his true love, Dana Lavonne Bratt-Huddleston, at her parents’ home in Conway Springs, and was blessed with a fourth daughter.
John retired from Cessna Aircraft as a purchasing administrator in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Virginia Lee and Betty Lou and Lillie Anna.
John is survived by his wife, Dana Scott; his four daughters, Juanita Jones (Jim) of Wichita, Tammy Jones (Ronnie) of Kingman, Patricia Richardson (Joe) of Wichita and, Amber Scott-Mullin of Wichita; one sister, Mary Applegate of Caldwell, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Memorial graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Conway Springs Cemetery, Conway Springs, with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy. Inurnment will follow in Conway Springs Cemetery.
