Argonia veterans receive Quilts of Valor

ARGONIA – On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, five Argonia area veterans were honored with Quilts of Valor. The quilts were presented during the annual Veterans Day program, which was hosted by Argonia Elementary School students and took place at Argonia High School.
Harvey Spencer enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1972. He was on active duty until 1980, and then served in reserves until his retirement in 1999. He served on the USS Worden, USS Preble, USS Gridley, and the USS Midway.
John Davis enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from June 1975 to 1979, and again served 1982-1987. He was an aircraft mechanic who deployed to Anchorage, Alaska; to the 169th Fighter Wing in South Carolina; and to the 159th Fighter Wing in Louisiana.
Ron Nalley enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1989 to 1992 and was in the Army Guard from 2000 to 2022. He served two tours of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom, was based in both Germany and Kuwait, and helped with Louisiana relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina.
Jacob Callaway was in the U.S. Army from 1999 to 2004. He had two deployments as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Arlene Tracy was in the United States Navy from 1989 to 1993. She served on board the USS Prairie, which was based in California.
