Denise Masterson


Denise Kay Masterson. 69, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Nov. 10, 2022, at her home with family and friends by her side.
She was born Oct. 5, 1953, to Jean and Dolores (Zerener) Harding in Wichita. She married Darrell John Masterson on Dec. 9, 1972, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Garden Palin. They made their home in Cheney, where they raised their two children, Holley (Brian) Rohloff and Daren (Holly) Masterson, both of Cheney.
Denise began working at Citizen State Bank of Cheney in 1974 and retired after 44 years of service. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) Sorority where she served as the Kansas state president. She was very proud of the philanthropic purpose that the sorority stood for. Denise was always known for her humorous personality and contagious smile.
She is survived by her loving husband, Darrell; her children; four grandchildren; her sister, Dawn (Steve) Hampel of Cheney and brother, David (Melinda) Harding of Bartlesville, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation was held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Wulf-Ast Mortuary in Garden Plain with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cheney. Graveside service followed at the Lutheran Cemetery in Cheney.
