Goddard standoff ends peacefully

GODDARD – A police standoff ended with the arrest of man in Goddard last week on Wednesday.
The situation in the 400 block of Craig Street, about a block east of Goddard Road and Fourth Avenue, lasted about five hours. The situation began around 11:30 a.m. with a domestic violence call.
When police arrived at the scene, they contacted a woman who said she had been hurt by a man. The man retreated into the home, and reportedly was armed with a handgun.
The Wichita Police Department’s SWAT team assisted, and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. About six homes were evacuated for a time.
