The Conway Springs Cardinals and Eisenhower Tigers girls tennis teams competed at State tournaments over the weekend.
Three Cardinals’ players came home with State medals.
In singles, Haylee Osner made it as far as the quarterfinals before falling to a player from Central Plains. She placed eighth.
In doubles, Adrienne May and Janel Meyer won their first round, then won back-to-back tiebreakers to to keep advancing toward medals. Two more wins followed, and they placed ninth.
As a team, the Cardinals finished tied for sixth in a field of 21.
The Tigers sent singles player Rachel Davis and the doubles team of Leila Kral and Leah Wilkinson. Neither entry medaled, but both picked up State wins.

Morgan Koester: Sherer (Rossville) def. Koester, 2-6, 6-0, (10-5). Knight (Beloit) def. Koester, 9-2.
Adrienne May/Janel Meyer: CS def. Marysville (Latta/Vering), 6-1, 6-1. CS def. Ellsworth (Rippert/Sheridan), 3-6, 7-6(6), (10-2). Sterling (Rowland/Wilson) def. CS, 6-3, 6-4. CS def. Sterling (Wellman/Carder), 9-4. CS def. Ellsworth (Rippert/Sheridan), 9-5. 9th place.
Grace Bender/Sadie Koester: Marysville (Winkler/Spurgeon) def. CS, 6-0, 6-2. Phillipsburg (Keessee/Billings) def. CS, 9-3.
Team Result: T-6th of 21, 13 points.
