Two local girls golfers wrapped up their seasons in grand fashion by earning All-State honors at the Class 3-2-1A State tournament, held Monday and Tuesday at Carey Park Golf Course in Hutchinson.
Garden Plain’s Jaycee Brown finished sixth after shooting a 175 during the two-day event, while Cheney’s Kaitlyn Fowler carded a 184 to finish 14th and also earn All-State.
As a team, Cheney finished 11th after shooting a 421 on the first day and missing the second-day cut. Rachel Rosenhagen shot a 101, while Payton Ryba and Reagan Ayres carded scores of 111 and 112, respectively. Amelia Meng shot 114 and Chloe Young finished with a 119.
At the Class 5A State tournament in Hesston, Eisenhower’s Kayla Jensen finished 29th after shooting a 184, while teammate Lilliann Roy tied for 45th after shooting a 198. Meanwhile, Goddard’s Sydney Chapman finished 40th after shooting a 194.
As a team, the Tigers finished 11th after carding a 385 on the first day and missing the cut. Madison Loomis shot 98, Lexi Habbart carded a 100, Meredith Russell shot 104 and Emma Scheer finished at 116.
At the Class 6A State tournament in Salina, Campus junior Kiley Maier finished 26th after she shot 171. As a team, Campus finished 11th, shooting a 414 on the first day and missing the cut. Sara Vulgamore carded a 98, Harley Lechner shot 113, Gracee Thompson shot a 116 and Destiny Arrington finished with a score of 146.
