Marjorie (Bates) Hommertzheim, 100, born May 30, 1922 in rural Buffalo, Okla., died on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022.
Marjorie attended school in Ashland, Kan., and graduated from Buffalo High School. She was a registered nurse, graduating from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1943. She was a member of St. Mary’s Aleppo Altar Society and St. Francis School of Nursing Alumni Association, and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; parents, Aaron and Grace (Yunker) Bates, brothers, Merle and Wayne Bates; and son-in-law, James Weber. She is survived by her children, Jeanne (Joel) Blasi of Goddard, Marilyn Hommertzheim of Maize, Linda (Howard) Reimer of Ritzville, Wash., Coleen (Dennis) Meehan of Hatboro, Pa., Anne Weber of Garden Plain, William (Rita) Hommertzheim of Cimarron, Kan.; Janet (Chet) Ayres of Stanford, Ky. Carol (Greg) Bergkamp of Pretty Prairie, and James Hommertzheim of Garden Plain. She also is survived by 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and friends and staff of Dove Estates.
Recitation of the rosary was said at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, and a funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, both at St. Mary’s Aleppo Catholic Church, 25741 W. 13th Street N., near Garden Plain.
