Don Schulte


Donald L. Schulte, 79, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2022 at his residence in Conway Springs.
Don was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Wichita to Anthony Francis Schulte and Thelma Marie (Huffington) Schulte. He moved with his family to a farm 10 miles east of Conway Springs. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Conway Spring High School with the class of 1960.
Don entered the United States Air Force in 1960 and he served his country until being honorably discharged in 1966.
He was united in marriage to Catherine Leona Roths on Sept. 3, 1965, in Conway Springs. They made their home in Garden Plain before moving to Conway Springs in 1970.
Don worked in masonry as a self-employed brick layer for a number of years. He returned to military service at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita in the Air National Guard in 1981, eventually serving as a crew chief. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1999, and worked for Kent’s Auto Service during his retirement years. Cathy passed away Nov. 12, 2019.
Don also was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Theron and Charles Schulte.
Don is survived by one daughter, Shannon Schulte of Conway Springs; one son, Sean Schulte of Wichita; one brother, Tom Schulte of Derby; one sister, Ann Ast of Nevada, Mo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the United Methodist Church, Conway Springs, with Pastor Jacob Maforo officiating. Inurnment will follow in Conway Springs Cemetery.
