Local teams start tennis season

Teams in TSnews’ coverage area kicked off the 2022 girls tennis season, traveling to tournaments in Maize, McPherson and Wellington.
Eisenhower High School had the strongest results, placing second at a quadrangular in Wellington on Aug. 30, then placing second in an eight-team tournament in McPherson on Sept. 1. Rachel Davis won the singles event in McPherson. Hailey Wiens won the No. 2 singles event in Wellington, while Stephanie and Raegan Best won the No. 2 doubles event.
The Tigers competed at Maize on Sept. 6 and will be at home this Thursday, Sept. 8. On Saturday, the team travels to Hesston; on Monday, the team is at Maize South; and on Tuesday, Sept. 13, the team is at Goddard.
Goddard competed at Maize on Sept. 1. The team of Alyssa Rising and Raegan LeFevre took first in the No. 1 doubles event. Upcoming events for Goddard include Salina Central on Sept. 10, Maize South on Sept. 12, a home meet on Sept. 13, and a meet at Andover on Sept. 15.
Conway Springs competed at Wellington on Aug. 30 and at Maize on Sept. 1. Coming up, the Cardinals compete at Emporia on Sept. 10 and host a home meet on Sept. 13.
Campus started its season Tuesday, Sept. 6, with a meet at Newton, and will host a tournament on Sept. 12 before traveling to Andover on Sept. 15.
