The Eisenhower Tigers got the girls golf season off to a strong start last Monday as they won the Derby Invitational.
The Tigers shot 176 to capture the title, 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Maize and 17 ahead of Newton. Campus finished sixth in the eight-team field (see below).
Three Eisenhower golfers finished in the top six at Derby, led by Lillian Roy shooting 41 to finish third overall. Kayla Jensen and Lexi Habbart both shot 44s to tie for sixth. Emma Scheer carded a 47 to tie for 12th.
Madison Loomis shot a 51 to tie for 19th and Stella Wright added a 58 to tie for 31st to round things out for the Tigers.
Eisenhower was in a tournament at Sierra Hills earlier this week and heads to Dodge City Thursday.

Maier leads way for Colts

The Campus Colts shot a 210 at the Derby Invitational to finish sixth — three strokes behind the host — but the Colts’ highlight of the day arguably was a strong individual performance.
Kiley Maier shot a 40 to finish second, four strokes behind individual champion Regan Dusenbury of Andover.
“Kiley has put in a lot of work over the summer to improve her game,” Campus coach Josh Curtiss said. “She is getting more comfortable around the greens with chips and putting.”
Sara Baltimore shot a 52 to tie for 22nd, while Ava Baker tied for 31st after shooting a 58. Gracee Thompson tied for 34th with a 60, while London Ysidro finished 42nd after shooting a 64 and Kaelyn Potter carded a 65 to place 43rd.
“Our girls played well for their first competition of the year,” Curtiss said. “Three of the girls played in their first varsity tournament and one of those girls played in her first tournament ever, so we are a little inexperienced right now.”
Campus heads to Newton Tuesday.

Andale-GP wins Nickerson Invitational

The Andale-Garden Plain girls golf started strong this season with a big win last Tuesday, winning the Nickerson Invitational with a score of 202, three strokes of runner-up Hoisington.
Macey Hensley led Andale-GP with a score of 46, good for third, while Garden Plain’s Jaycee Brown carded a 50 to tie teammate Arabella Clevenger for fifth. Addison Seiler tied for 15th with a score of 56, while Trinity Goodwin shot a 64 and tired for 32nd.
Andale-GP was at Sierra Hills in Wichita earlier this week and has a pair of tournaments on Monday, one in Wellington and one at Pratt.

Cheney sends younger golfers to Nickerson

The Cheney Cardinals decided to give their younger players a chance to play last Tuesday at the Nickerson Invitational as they took their junior varsity team to Reno County.
Cheney took eighth as a team after shooting 275. Freshman Lauren Sanders led the younger Cardinals with a score of 62, good for 30th.
The Cardinals traveled to Medicine Lodge earlier this week and will play at Pratt on Monday.
