CLEARWATER – Brielle Ives of Clearwater was part of last week’s performances of “The Wizard of Oz,” which was staged by Music Theatre Wichita.
Ives, 9, was a Munchkin and sang in the teen choir. Her mother, Amber, described the experience as “fantastic.”
The cast performed eight shows from Wednesday through Sunday to nearly-sold-out audiences at Century II’s Concert Hall.
Amber Ives said Brielle took classes this summer through Music Theatre Wichita, which led to the opportunity to perform in “The Wizard of Oz.” It was a positive experience.
“We’ll be going back for more,” Amber said.
Brielle will be in future classes through MTW, including one that will teach students the songs of “Hamilton.”
In addition, Brielle recently wrapped up her competitive dance season as the 2022 national photogenic winner for children ages 11 and under. She was part of a dance company that went to several competitions, and at most there was a photogenic contest.
She competed in six photogenic competitions over the past year, and won first place at each competition. Her national title was through a California-based group called Star Power. Her photographs were taken by Jenna Fox with Jenna Fox Photography.
