ARGONIA – The annual Argonia Days will take place on Saturday, and a fun day of activities are planned. Everything will take place on or along Main Street in downtown.
The day will begin with a parade at 10:30 a.m. Line-up for the parade begins at 9:45 a.m. at Argonia Elementary School.
Everything else begins at 11 a.m. There will be food trucks, bounce houses, giant yard games and more. DJ Mike Frost will provide music. Argonia Days runs until 3 p.m.
Wrist bands are required for the bounce houses and yard games, and are available for $10.
City clerk Tara Pierce said one new feature this year is the orbit ball.
“I call it the hamster run,” she said. It has two large plastic balls for people to climb into and then race down and back on a 25-foot-long track.
There will be a balloon artist on site from 12 to 2 p.m. There is a limit of one balloon per person.
Although the new OX Bar and Grill has not opened, it will host a beer garden and the annual cornhole tournament. Sarah Jane’s is offering biscuits and gravy for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., and walking tacos for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The food trucks scheduled are the Jackpot Food Truck from Caldwell and Chuck N Cluck Food Truck.
Speaking of eating, the jalapeno eating contest will return. It will take place at 2 p.m. in front of Sarah Jane’s. From 2:30 to 3 p.m., the Argonia Fire Department will host a water spray-and-play for kids, where they can be sprayed by fire trucks.
Two new backdrops will be available for people to take selfies.
A raffle also will be held. Prizes include a Fire 7 tablet with 7-inch display, an Insignia 24-inch smart TV, a tiered tray home décor set, a Kate Spade handbag, and a Sylvania IPX 4 waterproof bluetooth speaker. Winners will be drawn at 2:45 p.m., and you do not need to be present to win. Tickets are $1 each, six for $5, and 25 for $20. They are available before the event at City Hall in Argonia, and will be sold during Argonia Days.
Any last-minute information will be posted on the “Argonia Days 2022” event page on Facebook.
