The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team returned from an unplanned 10-day layoff to open this week, only to lose to the Sedan Blue Devils 69-25 in its return to the hardwood.
The Raiders had three games called off last week – Caldwell, Cedar Vale/Dexter and West Elk – when the flu left the team shorthanded. Since Jan. 11, Argonia has played just two games, Sedan last Monday and Flinthills on Feb. 11.
Against Sedan, the Raiders trailed 18-5 after the opening period and 37-11 at the intermission. The Blue Devils led 53-19 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Dalton Morrison led Argonia with 16 points.
The Raiders finished the regular season earlier this week against Wichita Classical and open Class 1A Division II substate play Thursday against South Haven. The winner of that game will face host Caldwell next Thursday in the substate semifinals.
The substate championship is set for Saturday, March 5, at Caldwell.
Argonia: Dalton Morrison 16, Damien Smith 7, Wesley Weishaar 2.
