DARE is a 12-week program in which Cheney Police Chief Ken Winter teaches fifth-grade students about the risks of drug and alcohol use, as well as bullying and a short topic on online safety. During the course of DARE, students write a DARE report geared toward how DARE helped them. Pictured in front are the DARE report winners: Victoria Rosenhagen (1st place), Kody Kuhn (2nd place), and Haven Wehrman (3rd place). Rosenhagen’s report will go on to the state competition. Last year, Kennedy Eastman won the state competition. Students graduate from DARE after passing an end-of-the-program assessment; all students passed this year. DARE graduation was on Feb. 15. Students will have DARE again in eighth grade.
