The Conway Springs scholars’ bowl teams traveled to Belle Plaine on Feb. 14, to compete against Independent, Douglass and Wichita Trinity.
The seventh grade team of Joslin Bartelson, Marley Dalbom, Hayden Frederick, Gavin Gerlach, Troy Herndon, Delaney Jones, Lairen Pauly and Lucas Pauly finished in second place, with a 5-4 win-loss record and 495 points. The games against Douglass were wins – 50-40, 80-10 and 80-30. They won their first game against Independent 65-50, lost the second 40-6 and won the third 70-40. They were 0-3 against Trinity 20-80, 50-60, and 40-70. Individual points were: Bartelson – 165, Gerlach – 130, Herndon – 90, Lucas Pauly – 50, Lairen Pauly – 30, Dalbom and Frederick – 10 each.
The eighth grade team of Joseph Beck, Jase Downey, Amelia Meyers, Miley Pauly, Aliette Potts, Erica Zoglmann and Sydney Zoglmann also finished in second place, with a 5-4 record and 500 points. Against Independent, they also won their first game 100-40, then lost 60-80 and won the third 45-40. They were 3-0 against Trinity, scoring 55-35, 80-50 and 100-25 in the games. They went 0-3 against Douglass, 10-100, 40-90, and 30-65. Individual points were: Beck – 150, Meyers -80, R. Zoglmann and M. Pauly – 70 each, Downey – 60, S. Zoglmann – 50, and Potts – 20.
The Chaparral meet is all that remains on the schedule, having been postponed again by snow.
