SCHULTE – Two people died in the early hours of Monday in a two-vehicle crash on K-42 Highway at 119th Street West, near Schulte.
The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a southbound Toyota Camry on 119th Street West and a westbound Chevrolet Suburban on K-42 collided at the intersection.
Both drivers died at the scene. There were no passengers.
Names were not immediately released. The Suburban was driven by a Barber County man in his 40s, and the Camry was driven by a Wichita man in his 50s.
The intersection was closed for several hours, impacting the morning commute.
