Jeremy D. Barnes, 42, of Harper, a Cox Machine supervisor, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center. He had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and died as a result of complications.
Jeremy was born March 28, 1979, in Wichita. He was the son of Kim (Barnes) and Robbie Hodges. Jeremy grew up in the Harper community, where he attended Harper public schools. He graduated from Chaparral High School with the class of 1997 and continued his education at Emporia State and Hutchinson Junior College. His major was living cheap, partying, and making new friends. Jeremy began working in the aircraft industry at Cessna in Wichita as an assembler. He was involved in precision manufacturing as a supervisor for Cox Machine, Inc. in Harper.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his grandfather, Darrel Barnes. Jeremy is survived by his fiancé, Diana Wedman; daughter, Alistar Barnes; son, Gus Drouhard (Zoe); parents, Kim and Robbie Hodges; “nanny” Carol Barnes; brother, Casey Hodges (Trisha); sister, Melissa McGuire (James); granddaughter, Waylin Jean; nieces and nephews, Carson, Meeka, Mabry, Dax, Libby and Gatlin; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
The funeral service was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the Milton United Methodist Church, Milton, with Pastor Kendal Utt officiating. Interment was in Eden Cemetery, Milton,
