Campus boys, Cheney girls qualify for State races; Trotter wins 4A girls’ title

The Campus boys cross country found its way to the Class 6A State meet. The Colts placed third, taking the final team spot at their regional in Wichita.
Paul Sevart led the team with a ninth-place finish. The Colts’ top-five runners all placed in the top 20.
The Campus girls will have one representative at State. Maddie Carpenter was among the top 10 runners not on a State-qualifying team. She finished 13th overall and will compete as an individual.
The Class 6A State meet will be held Saturdat at 4 Mile Creek Resort in Augusta. The boys will run at 10:40 a.m., and Carpenter will compete with the girls at 12 p.m

The Cheney girls cross country team placed second at the Class 3A regional meet. The team qualified for the State competition that will take place Saturday at the Wamego Country Club in Wamego.
Abbye Hudson led the Cheney girls team, finishing in 7th place. The Cardinals girls team will run at 12 p.m.
The Cheney boys team was unable to qualify for state and had no team members who qualified as individuals.

Clearwater cross country runner Hayley Trotter won first place in the Class 4A regional meet in Buhler and qualified to run at State as an individual. Ava Hanes also qualified for state after finishing 15th in the Class 4A regional meet. The Indians did not qualify for State as a team.
Trotter and Hanes will race in the Class 4A State meet at the Wamego Country Club in Wamgo. They will run at 10 a.m. Saturday

Eisenhower cross country runner Ashyton Koeppen will be Goddard’s lone representative at the Class 5A State cross country meet.
Koeppen took 19th at the 5A regional that was held last Saturday at Lake Afton. More importantly, she was among the top 10 runners not on a State-qualifying team, earning her a spot at the State meet.
She will race at 10 a.m. at 4 Mile Creek Resort in Augusta.
No other Tigers qualified for State.
The Goddard Lions competed at the 5A regional race in Great Bend. The Lions were not able to qualify any runners for the State meet.
