GODDARD – “The flag, when it is in such condition that is is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning,” says the United States Flag Code.
The Goddard Public Library now provides a box for residents to place their worn out flags for honorable retirement. Located at 219 N. Main Street in Goddard, the library has provided a red and white striped collection box for people to drop off their worn American flags.
Local scout troops will pick up the flags and honorably retire them.
