Four area girls punched their tickets to the State wrestling tournament by turning in strong performances at the Division I substate tournament last Friday at Wichita Heights High School.
Leading the way was Goddard’s Ashlynn Goodwin, who won a substate championship at 143 pounds. She will be joined at State by Audrie Felkins, who took third at 115 pounds.
“We are excited to have Ashlynn and Audrie try to win our first girls individual State titles,” Goddard coach Brett Means said.
They will be joined at the State tournament by Eisenhower’s Lainie Burkhart, who finished fourth at 109 pounds for the Tigers, and also by Erin Jackson from Campus, who finished second at 115 last Friday at Wichita Heights.
Natalie Purntes (109 pounds) and Jessi Bernal (170) also competed for Campus at Wichita Heights last Friday, but did not place.
The Class 6-5A State tournament is Thursday at Hartman Arena in Park City.
