The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team hit a bit of a rough patch as it headed into the home stretch of the season, dropping a pair of games last week to Wichita Independent and Medicine Lodge.
Last Friday, the Cardinals held a three-point lead at halftime against Medicine Lodge, but fell victim to a third-quarter slump as they lost 38-30.
“This week I’ve seen our girls improve in the areas we have been emphasizing on,” Conway Springs coach Sheri Mercer said, “but we struggled shooting the ball last week and putting together four good quarters. We just have to keep pushing on and try to make the best of the few games we have left in the season.”
The Cardinals led 18-15 at the intermission, but the Indians outscored Conway Springs 12-2 in the third quarter to take a seven-point lead to the final period.
Conway Springs concluded the regular season earlier this week against Wellington and Chaparral.

Conway Springs: Melissa Ebenkamp 8, Katelyn Koester 7, Olivia Lange 6, Gabby Dalbom 4, Tracy Johnsen 3, Izzy Linn 2.

Last Thursday, Conway Springs trailed 16-3 after the opening quarter and never could recover in a 52-25 loss to the Lions. Koester led the Cardinals with six points.
