The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team beat the Hutchinson Salthawks at home on Jan. 19, 51-30.
“Our defense played really well,” Tigers head coach Matt Brumley said. “As far as offensively, it was more of a balanced attack. It kind of seems like it’s been that way all year. We don’t have one person scoring a ton of points; it’s four or five girls averaging about the same amount of points. That’s been nice to have.”
The win improved the team’s season record to 8-2. In the first coaches’ poll released after winter break, the Tigers climbed from No. 10 to No. 8 in Class 5A.
The Tigers had three players in double digits versus the Salthawks: Kennedy Nicholson scored 11, McKenzie Henry 10, and Payton Ryan 10. Other scorers were Taylor Burkholder 7, Carly Dameron 6, Addi Verbeck 5, and Kila Respress 2.
The team is back in action this Thursday, Jan. 28, when they travel to Emporia. On Saturday, Jan. 30, at 3 p.m., they are back at home versus Wichita Northwest. Next week Tuesday, Feb. 2, the team travels to Andover Central, and on Feb. 5, to Campus.
