Eldon was born in Lawrence to Eldon Sr. and Claudette Butler on Dec. 10, 1951. He was a devoted husband and happily married to Anne Butler for 41 years. He was a veteran and served in the National Guard, and was involved in the local 40-8 Chapter in Garden Plain. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon Sr. and Claudette Butler, and brother, Robbie Butler.
Eldon is survived by wife; Anne Butler; three children, Garrett, Tyler and Kaylee Butler; sisters, Nancy and Donna; brothers, Larry, Dale and Davey; and two very loved grandchildren, Sydney and Liam Butler.
Eldon was a very kind and loving man who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He was known as an excellent cook, his one downfall being over-preparing food and always cooking with spicy jalapenos. Eldon trained in martial arts for most of his life, achieving a 10th degree black belt, and founded The Butler Karate School in Garden Plain where he taught self-defense strategies. He ran the karate school in his down time when he was not flipping burgers and mixing shakes at The Frosty Treat with Anne. Since 1998, Eldon worked at Midwest Roofing Supply Co. until his recent retirement. Eldon loved and enjoyed watching his children grow up and was happiest when he was around family.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and 40-8.
