GODDARD – The annual banquet for members of the Goddard Chamber of Commerce, normally held in January, is being reschedule for later in the year. The hope is to hold the event outside sometime in June, but no date has been chose.
Instead, the Chamber kicked off the new year with a regular membership meeting, held Jan. 14 at Pathway Church.
Members learned that the monthly coffees won’t take place in 2021, at least not in the early months. Since the pandemic began, attendance at these events was below expectations. The event will be re-evaluated mid-year.
The monthly after hours events will continue, with the first one of the year this Thursday, Jan. 21, at Interlingual Interpreting Service’s new location, 200 N. Broadway in Wichita. The Goddard Chamber member is now located on the sixth floor of The Orpheum in downtown Wichita. The mixer runs 4-6 p.m., with a 4:15 p.m. co-hosted by the Goddard Chamber and the Wichita Chamber.
The regular membership meetings will be evaluated monthly. Right now, in-person attendance is down but more people are joining via the Facebook Live feeds of each meeting.
The next Lead G leadership event will be held 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Feb. 19. The first two sessions have had good response, and it is not necessary to have attended prior sessions to take part in February. Addtional information is on the Chamber’s website.
There have been some committee changes, with the communications committee being combined with marketing. The events committee is now merged with the Lead G committee. Both groups will now meet quarterly. Any employee of a member business can serve on any of the Chamber committees, including finance, which will continue to meet monthly.
The Chamber also is ending its weekly email and quarterly newsletter, and now will publish a monthly newsletter.
