The Goddard Lions boys basketball team lost its first game after the winter break, 58-50 to Andover Central on Friday, Jan. 8.
The Jags went on a 9-1 run in the last few minutes of the first quarter, claiming a lead that they never relinquished. The Lions played mostly even with the Jags through the second and third quarters, and came within one point of their opponents early in the fourth quarter.
Cam’ron Moses scored 24 points and was successful on 8 of 19 field goal attempts. Joseph Trotter was also in double digits, scoring 16 points on 8 of 10 shooting. Other scorers were Jackson LeFevre 8 and Mason Lubbers 2.
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Lions traveled to cross-town rival Eisenhower; look for coverage in next week’s paper. The team’s next game is on Friday, Jan. 15, at Salina Central.
Next week, the Lions compete in the El Dorado tournament. All three games will be played at Kapaun-Mt. Carmel Catholic High School. On Monday, the Lions play Great Bend, on Thursday Wichita Trinity, and on Saturday, Kapaun.
