The Eisenhower Tigers boys basketball team traveled to Arkansas City on Friday, Jan. 8, and came home with a loss, 42-34.
The teams played each other close through the game’s first half, and the score was tied, 14-14, at halftime. In the third quarter, Eisenhower slumped, while the Bulldogs upped their offensive production, outscoring the Tigers 17-3 in the quarter.
Eisenhower rallied, outscoring Arkansas City 17-11 in the fourth quarter, but ran out of clock before they could finish making up the deficit.
Nick Hogan scored 12 points and scored on 3 of 13 field goal attempts, to lead the Tigers’ offense. Other scorers were David Brogan 7, Jason McCarty 6, Cody Houser 4, Tyler Roth 3 and Parker Dameron 2.
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Tigers hosted crosstown rival Goddard; look for results in next week’s paper. Coming up on Friday, the team travels to Valley Center.
On Tuesday, Jan. 19, the Tigers host Newton for the first round of the Dodge City Tournament of Champions. If they win that game, they will play either Hutchinson or Bishop Carroll in Dodge City at 5 p.m. on Jan. 21. If they lose that game, they will host either Hutchinson or Bishop Carroll on Jan. 22. The championship and third-place games will be played on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 3 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
