Legislative forum goes virtual

The annual South Central Kansas Legislative Delegation (SCKLD) will hold a virtual public forum on Tuesday, Jan. 5. The event will run 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Members of the public who wish to speak must register online at eventbrite.com by 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4. The two-hour forum will start on time and end on time. Speakers will receive up to two minutes each to address the legislative panel. If you do not get to speak, organizers ask you to understand there are other ways to engage legislators.
The format for this event will be as follows:
• 6:30 to 6:45 p.m. – Legislators will be given a moment to speak about their districts and committee assignments.
• 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. – Time has been allotted for 45 people to speak for up to two minutes on any topic they wish. If fewer people sign up, then the two minutes may be extended.
Other details are included in the “about this event” section. Questions should be addressed to the delegation and not to any individual. They may not ask the panel of legislators for a show of hands or any other on-the-spot commitment to any issue during the forum. Rhetorical questions are acceptable.
It is expected that all parties will be treated with respect and interact in a civil way.
