Garden Plain Elementary School welcomed students, staff and community members together to dedicate a new playground swing in memory of two students, Leah Overlees and Cale Twietmeyer. The swing comes with a platform that can accommodate a wheelchair. The purchase of the swing was made possible by class members, staff, parents and the Garden Plain Elementary Home School Organization. The swing is one of several features in the new adaptive playground at GPES that is part of the district’s bond effort. “They would have loved this swing,” said Jenny McFadden, who was Overlees’ and Twietmeyer’s teacher. “And this inclusive playground is beyond their dreams…Their memories will live on and bring so many smiles to so many faces.”
