Deadline for Salter House calendar

ARGONIA – The Salter House Museum is collecting dates for birthdays and anniversaries in their annual community calendar fundraiser.
Forms were sent out in the USD 359 newsletter and there are also forms at the Conway Bank. This is one of the museum’s largest fundraisers. All forms are due Sept. 25. Turn them in to the Argonia school office or to Conway Bank.
The roof has been fixed at the museum. Estimates will be gathered soon to repair the interior plaster. The goal is to be able to have Argonia students take tours of the Salter House Museum next spring, depending on the COVID situation.
The city of Argonia has something that no one else in the United States has – the history of having the first female mayor. The Salter House was built in 1884 from brick that was fired in a kiln near the home, and was put on the National Register of Historic Places in September 1971.
