Vivian J. (Dunn) Maechtlen, age 98, of Clearwater, retired Boeing supervisor, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019.
Visitation was held 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, with family present 5:30-7 p.m., at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary. Service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Clearwater United Methodist Church.
Vivian was born on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1921, in Delano Township, Wichita. She was the oldest of five children born to John and Lois Edna (Showalter) Dunn. She was united in marriage to Clarence John Maechtlen on June 19, 1943, in Clearwater, at the Baptist Parsonage.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Maechtlen; father, John Gardner Dunn; mother, Lois Edna Showalter Dunn Stewart; stepfather, Paul Stewart; brother, Gilbert Dunn; sisters, Lois Webb and Mary Miller; nieces, Michelle Self and Debra Jacobs; and nephew, Roger Wentworth.
She is survived by one brother, Wayne Dunn of Clearwater; brother-in-law, Richard Webb of Wichita; nieces, Gail Fent of Tulsa, Sondra (Jon) Chambers of Clearwater, Terrie (Jim) Huntington of Fairway, Kan., Renee (Van) Tjaden of Clearwater, and Ronda (Richard) Townsend and Sharla Leverenz, both of Wichita; one nephew, Floyd Dunn of Casper, Wyo..; special family members Brad and Diane Nickelson of Clearwater; and “grandsons,” Justin (Morgan) Nickelson and Braedon of Clearwater, Matt (Brittani) Nickelson and Madelyn of Pratt, and Jarrod (Sarah) Nickelson of Wichita.
