Obituary: Jeanette Hilger

Jeanette (Friess) Hilger, 85, of Conway Springs, died Friday, April 5, 2019, at the Catholic Care Center, Bel Aire.
Jeanette was born April 25, 1933 in Colwich to Joseph Friess and Martha (Bergkamp) Friess. She moved with her family to Schulte in 1938. They moved to Conway Springs during the winter of 1944.
Jeanette was united in marriage to Marcus Mathias Hilger on Nov. 17, 1952, at Conway Springs. They made their home two miles west of town, where they farmed and had a dairy their entire married lives. Marcus died on July 16, 1997. Jeanette later moved to town to make her home at 303 W. Conway. She became a resident of the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire in 2017.
Jeanette was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs, and the Ladies Altar Society.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two infant children, Catherine and Michael Hilger; one brother, Leroy Friess; one sister, Betty Rausch; and three grandchildren, Erin Chastain, Marcus Hilger and Nicholas Daniel.
Jeanette is survived by four sons, Gerald Hilger, Timothy Hilger, Joseph Hilger and Brian Hilger, all of Conway Springs; three daughters, Linda Chastain of Wichita, Margaret Rush of Conway Springs, and Karen Wolke of Chicago; two brothers, Paul Friess and Ronnie Friess of Conway Springs; three sisters, Mary Metzen of Mayfield, Doris Friess of Hutchinson, and Darlene Haukap of Garden Plain; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren ;and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs, with Father Stuart M. Smeltzer as celebrant. Vigil was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, also at the church. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conway Springs. Arrangements were by Ebersole Mortuary, Conway Springs.
