Obituary: Mickie Alderdice

Mary “Mickie” Alderdice, 95, of Conway Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at Spring View Manor, Conway Springs.
Mickie was born Feb. 7, 1923, near Mayfield, the daughter of Milton Henry Ross and Ethel Laura Porter Ross. She grew up in the Mayfield area and attended Union District #103 rural school. She later attended Milan High School and graduated with the class of 1940. She attended Sterling College and Wichita Business College, and taught in the language arts, speed writing and in court reporting for WBC for 20 years.
Mickie was united in marriage to Dale Eugene Alderdice on Sept. 20, 1941, at Enid, Okla. They made their home in Wellington for their first five years of marriage. They lived in Milan from 1946 to 1966, and then moved to Wichita. In 1978, they made their home on the river south of Peck. Dale died on July 25, 1989. Mickie moved to Conway Springs in April 1990.
Mickie was baptized in the United Presbyterian Church and later joined the United Methodist Church, Conway Springs.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ted Ross; and one sister, Marjorie Hare.
Mickie is survived by sons, Michael Alderdice and his wife, Linda, of Argonia; and John Alderdice and his wife, Natsue, of Havelock, N.C.; daughter, Janie Trotter and her husband, Gary, of Lake Kiowa, Texas; one sister, Betty Hare of Conway Springs; and three grandchildren, Mitch Trotter, Marni Hull and Mary J. Alderdice. She also is survived by five great-grandchildren, Zachary and Hayley Trotter, and Riley, Piper and Wyatt Hull, and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Milan Cemetery, Milan, with the Rev. Bryce Hansen, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Conway Springs, officiating. Interment followed in Milan Cemetery.
