Melvin “Mel” F. Veach, Sr., age 88, of Derby, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, with family present 5:30-7 p.m., at Shinkle Mortuary, 146 N. Lamar, Haysville. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Prairie Trail Cowboy Church, Haysville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Josephine (Bender) Veach; brother, Arthur Veach; son-in-law, Daryl Winegar; great-grandsons, Tyler Fidler and Mel Veach IV; and stepsons, Ted and Mike McNutt. He is survived by his wife, Lea; children, Deborah Jacobs, Lani Winegar and Penny (Larry) Lusk, all of Derby, Melvin Veach, Jr. and Cynthia Veach, both of Wichita, Candace Veach of Santa Monica, Calif., and Vince (Lori) Veach of Lenexa; step-daughter, Jeanie (Ted) Warholic of Atlanta, Ga.; siblings, Ralph Veach of Derby, Jerry Logan of Loveland, Colo., Dot (Russ) Russell of Rockingham, N.C., Joetta (Bill) Vredenburg of Park City, and Connie Gruver of Scott City; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
