Obituary: Robert ‘Bob’ Walker

On Aug. 13, Robert (Bob) Eugene Walker of Haysville joined his wife, Lily, and son, Robert, in Heaven. He died from a broken heart after his wife passed away on June 5.
He will be greatly missed by his sister, Beverly (Richard) Ormston of Iowa; daughters, Sharon (Craig) Keagy, and Kathy (Larry) June; grandchildren, Trevor (Nuni) Stewart, Ian (Sarah) Stewart, Joanna (Jeff) Neises, Erika (Daniel) Linares, Devin June and Tranesa June; great-grandchildren, Kaira, Adeleine, Faith, Sarah, Harper, Emily; brother-in-law, Kenny Jones; and nieces, nephews, HUMM brothers, and HUMC family.
Bob was born in Jessup, Iowa, and was raised on a farm. He joined the Army Air Corps during World War II. While stationed in England, he met the love of his life, Lily. They were married 74 years. After the war, he received training and two knives to be a butcher with the GI Bill. Eventually, he became a U.S. Postal Carrier, a job from which he retired after more than 30 years. His greatest joy was his family.
He passed peacefully because of the kind and loving care from Serenity Hospice and Homestead Assisted Living in Derby with family by his side.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby.
