Ronald Lee Jones, 81, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Argonia, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at his home.
He was born Aug. 7, 1936, at Norwich to Melvin and Mary Olive (Hettick) Jones. Ron moved with his family to a farm northeast of Argonia in 1938. He attended school at Argonia and graduated from Argonia High School in 1954. Ron continued his education at Wichita University, where he completed his undergraduate degree in chemistry. He received his master’s degree from AT&T College, Greensborough, N.C.
Ron was united in marriage to Mary Ann Larkin on May 7, 1960, in Wichita. The couple was blessed with three sons and three daughters.
Ron worked as the Crime Lab director for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation in Topeka from 1971 to 1991. He was the Forensic Lab director from 1991 until his retirement in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert Jones and Fredrick Jones.
Ron is survived by his children, Ronald Jones, Jr., Deborah Jones, Gregory Jones, Melissa Adams, Michael Jones, and Sharon Jones, and their mother, Mary Ann Jones, all of Kansas City; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Argonia United Methodist Church, Argonia, with the Rev. Wes Young officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont, Kan.
