Obituary: Ansel Warren

Ansel J. Warren, Sr., 90, died Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Duncan, Okla.

He was born Sept. 11, 1927, at Eminence, Mo., to Walter Lee Warren and Alice Jane (Heaton) Warren.

Ansel grew up in Eminence and attended the local schools. He graduated from Bunker High School with the class of 1944.

Ansel entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 22, 1946, where he served in the 576th Ordnance AM Company in Germany during World War II. He was honorably discharged on March 24, 1947.

Ansel was united in marriage to Mary Louise Creed on July 4, 1949, at Argonia. They made their first home at Argonia for a few months before moving to Wellington.

Ansel worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and was transferred eight years later to El Reno, Okla. In 1969, he was transferred again and the family moved to Carrolton, Texas. They moved to Little Rock, Ark., in 1974 and returned to Oklahoma in 1976 to make their home in Chickasha.

Ansel retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1991 after 47 years as a track supervisor. Mary Louise passed away Nov. 19, 2007.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; seven sisters; and one daughter, Pamela Warren.

Ansel is survived by one son, Ansel J. Warren, Jr., and wife, Vickie, of Dallas; one brother, F.E. Warren of Fenton, Mo.; three granddaughters: Jennifer and Allyson Warren and Emily Burns; two great-grandchildren: Matthew and Jordan Burns; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, in Austin Cemetery, Anson. Interment will follow in Austin Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ebersole Mortuary, Conway Springs. Online condolences and guest book are available at
