Current Garden Plain High School teacher Kody Kasselman will be the school’s new principal when the 2018-19 school year begins.
Kasselman was selected at Monday night’s USD 267 Renwick Board of Education meeting, which was held at GPHS.
Kasselman will replace longtime district employee Kati Thul, who is moving into the district office as curriculum director.
Thul will take over the role being vacated by assistant superintendent Mindy Bruce, who will take over as superintendent. Current superintendent Tracy Bourne is retiring June 30.
Thul took over as the high school principal this school year after serving for a number of years as principal of Garden Plain Elementary. Before that, Thul worked as the counselor at GPHS. She has been with the district for 17 years.
Kasselman is a social science teacher at Garden Plain High School. He has been head coach of the girls basketball team, and last month led the Owls to the 3A State championship.
Kasselman, who has been with Renwick for a decade, will continue as head coach of the girls basketball team.
