The Renwick Board of Education decided to stay in house, naming Mindy Bruce as its new superintendent at a special meeting tonight.
Bruce will officially take on her new duties on July 1. Current superintendent Tracy Bourne will retire at the end of the 2017-18 school year, which ends on June 30.
Bruce, now in her eighth year as assistant superintendent, oversees curriculum instruction and staff development at Renwick’s five school buildings. Bruce has more than 20 years of experience with the district.
With help from the Kansas Association of School Boards, Renwick considered 16 applicants for the job and interviewed three candidates last week and this week.
“The board is certain in our choice of Ms. Bruce, and are confident that under her leadership USD 267 will continue to be recognized for its innovative education and excellence,” said board of education president Greg Tice in a news release.
