Darrell Wayne Pauls, age 61, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 13, 2018, in the care of his family.
Darrell was born Oct. 8, 1956, in Lawton Okla., to Donald and Erma Pauls. He has two siblings, Linda Matzen and Mark Pauls, who all had a very close relationship. He moved to Maize as a small child and graduated in 1974. He worked at Vulcan/Occidental Chemicals for more than 40 years in a variety of positions.
He married the love of his life, Judy Simpkins, on April 16, 1977, and they had 40 wonderful years together. They had four children, Bryan (Kathy), Michael (Lori), Cheryl (Paul) Golladay, and Kathryn. He loved coaching them in all sports and never missed a game. His pride and joy were his 10 grandkids: Abby, Bryan, Ariel, Kyndal, Kathryn, Andrew, Belle, Luke, Aurora and Leah, and he loved reading to them and playing all kinds of games with them.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors and recently got into kayaking. You could always find him walking around Garden Plain holding hands with his wife. He was always fixing everything around the house and enjoyed helping his children work on projects at their own homes. His grandkids are all known to say “Grandpa can fix anything.” He was well loved by most who met him and will be greatly missed.
His life was celebrated Feb. 16 at Wulf-Ast Mortuary in Garden Plain.
