Locals to take part in Shrine Bowl

A number of youth are involved in this year’s Kansas Shrine Bowl game. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex in El Dorado, part of the Butler Community College campus.

Playing in the game from the coverage are of our five papers are:

• The Times-Sentinel – Nate Pauly, Garden Plain; Kody Gonzalez, Goddard; Tanner Orand, Eisenhower.

• WestSide Story – Joey Gilbertson, Northwest; Samuel Nance, Bishop Carroll; Ethan Richardson, Maize South.

• East Wichita News – Paul Jordan, Kapaun-Mt. Carmel; Ben Adler, Trinity Academy; Cooper Dreifort, Andover.

Band members from our area include Aaron Mounts, Cheney High; Emily Swafford, Garden Plain High; Savhanna Chrisco, Campus High; and Brayden Coffey, Wichita East.

Sabrina Veith of Cheney is a member of the cheer squad.

Goddard/West Wichita are well-represented on the coaching staff. The West’s head coach is Marc Marinelli, head coach of Eisenhower. Assistants include Scott Vang, Goddard’s head coach, and Brent Pfeifer, head coach at Maize South.
