Helen Gail Keady, 79, of Goddard, passed away on Sunday May 7, 2017, in Gloucester, Va. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Wichita on Thursday, May 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside memorial and burial will be held at McCracken Cemetery in McCracken, Kan., on Friday, May 12, at 2:30 p.m.
Gail was born on July 19, 1937, outside McCracken, to Lloyd “Camp” Glen and Hattie May (Ree) Conner. She married Eugene “Gene” Keady on Sept. 9, 1961, eventually moving to Goddard. There she taught elementary and intermediate school, including first and fourth grades in Goddard, for 28 years.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Denice Jane King; two brothers, Glen Conner and Guy Conner; sister-in-law Elizabeth Conner; and nephew Daniel Conner.
Gail is survived by her sisters-in-law, Sonja Conner of Augusta and Janeice Crosson of Wamego; sons, Richard Keady of Gloucester, Va., and Douglas Keady of Southlake, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Goddard Education Foundation, 201 S. Main, Goddard, KS 67052, as a tribute to all who have taught at Goddard USD 265.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Cancer Center of Kansas and the Riverside Walter Reid Hospice in Virginia for their support and care.
